Thoughts on My Future PC Build: What Do You Think?

I'm looking to upgrade my computer, which I originally got back in 2018 from Best Buy. The motherboard is quite old and doesn't support Windows 11, so it's time for a refresh! Here are the parts I'm keeping: a Core G21 TG Thermal Take Mid Tower Case (it comes with 4 fans: three in the front and one in the back), a Smart Series 600W Thermaltake PSU (though I plan to upgrade it later), an NVIDIA 1070ti GPU with 8GB VRAM, a 2TB Seagate 7200 RPM HDD, and a SATA 256GB SSD for cloning the OS temporarily.

Now, here's what I want to buy: an MSI PRO Z790-P WIFI motherboard (with a 4-year extended warranty), two packs of Kingston Fury Beast Black 16GB DDR5 5200 MT RAM, two Samsung 990 Plus NVMe SSDs (2TB each), a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE CPU cooler, and an Intel Core i7-12700KF.

I'm trying to keep the total under $800. Does this build look solid? Should I just get the new MSI PRO Z790 motherboard straight up? Also, will mATX fit into my current case? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Looks like you have a decent foundation! Just a heads up, pairing a high-end motherboard with an older CPU might not be the best move. What's your plan for using the PC? If it's just for casual tasks and 1080p gaming, you could consider a more current CPU that fits your budget better. Also, yes, mATX should fit in your case!

I agree with GamerNerd29! If gaming isn’t a priority for you, a cheaper CPU might save you some cash. Might I suggest looking into AMD options? And definitely get an mATX; it should work just fine with your tower. Keep an eye out for deals to keep under that $800 limit!
