Tips for Cracking Frontend Interviews as a WordPress Developer

I've been a WordPress developer for over two years now, gaining solid experience with the WordPress ecosystem, including plugin development and integrations. I've successfully completed several projects in this field, but I'm struggling to break into mid or large-sized companies as these opportunities seem scarce for WordPress devs. Although I've built a good foundation in JavaScript and React, and completed a few projects to showcase my skills, I'm not getting any responses when applying for frontend or React jobs. Should I revamp my CV? What am I missing?

I've submitted around 50 applications so far, mostly rejections or silence. Many in similar situations report applying to hundreds without interviews. The current market is tough for developers. Focusing on React, TypeScript, and platforms like AWS or Stripe might improve your chances, as those are highly sought after right now.

Don’t be too hard on yourself; not getting callbacks is super common. Many job listings attract thousands of applications. If you're aiming for larger companies, maybe consider exploring Drupal? You can check platforms like LinkedIn for insights on applicant numbers to gauge competition.

I know some Drupal, but haven’t had a chance to use it extensively. My current team works on various CMS like WordPress and Shopify, but I haven't landed any Drupal projects yet.

You should start working on actual frontend projects. A lot of employers don't see WordPress experience as relevant for frontend positions unless they're specifically looking for WordPress developers.

I’m already working on building as many projects as I can! I currently have a job, but I'm actively seeking other opportunities.
