Tips for Safely Transporting My PC on a Long Road Trip

I'm moving this Friday and need some advice on how to safely transport my PC tower during a 5-hour road trip. It's my first one, and I'm a bit nervous about it. I don't have the original box, so I plan to use anti-static bubble wrap and lay the tower down with the motherboard and GPU facing up since I have two glass panels and don't want it resting on the glass. Is this a safe method? Should I remove the GPU before the move, even though I'm inexperienced in doing so? What's the safest approach to ensure my PC arrives intact?

Absolutely take the GPU out and transport it separately. Also, if you're using a tower cooler, you might want to remove that as well; it can be fragile during travel. Good luck with your move!

It's definitely a good idea to remove the GPU before transporting your PC. It helps prevent any damage during the trip. Just be careful when taking it out!

When I moved across the country, I removed my GPU and used the box the case came in, placed it in the back seat with no foam. It held up fine! Just ensure everything is packed tightly and secure. If you can find a fitting box, try to make it as airtight with Styrofoam as you can and nestle it on the backseat floor with other items to minimize movement.

That's great advice! I could definitely get a box and stabilize it with something to keep it in place.

Just remove the GPU—that's the main thing! You'll feel better about it after. Good luck with the move!

Removing the GPU is a smart move. If you have a 3.5" mechanical hard drive, take that out too. Better safe than sorry!
