I have an important Zoom call on the horizon, and I'm feeling a bit anxious about lag issues. Currently, my laptop has 8 GB of RAM and runs on Windows 11, but I have another 8 GB RAM stick on the way from Ontario. If it arrives late, what are some effective ways to minimize lag and improve my call experience? I do have Wi-Fi.

One of the best ways to reduce lag is by connecting your laptop directly to the internet using an Ethernet cable. If your laptop doesn't have an Ethernet port, there are USB-to-RJ45 adapters that can help. A wired connection is usually more stable than Wi-Fi, especially for video calls.

Keep in mind that RAM isn't the only factor here—your internet speed plays a big role too. If your connection has been lagging before, you might want to consider turning off your webcam during the call to save bandwidth.

True, your internet speed is key. But if you want to optimize your laptop’s performance, make sure to close any unnecessary programs beforehand. Also, try using Zoom through a web browser instead of the app, as it can sometimes make a difference! And finally, if your laptop is plugged in and set to high performance, it should run better during the call.

Do you notice a big difference when using the browser version versus the app?
