I'm looking to upgrade my PC, which is about five years old, and I'm trying to figure out what changes would give me the best performance boost without spending too much. Here's what I'm currently working with:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT 3.8 GHz 6-Core Processor
- Cooler: MSI MAG CORELIQUID 240R V2
- Motherboard: MSI MAG B550M BAZOOKA Micro ATX AM4
- Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200
- Storage: Western Digital Blue SN550 1 TB NVME SSD
- GPU: NVIDIA Founders Edition GeForce RTX 3070 8 GB
- Power Supply: MSI MAG A650GF 650W
I'm particularly concerned about whether I need to also upgrade my motherboard or power supply when I get a new GPU, as I primarily struggle with VR games. Any advice on that?

Before upgrading, I'd suggest confirming exactly what about your current setup isn't delivering the performance you want. If it's mainly your GPU, that's the best target. Regarding the motherboard and PSU, if everything's running well now, you might not need to swap them unless you go for a really high-end GPU that requires more power.
If you're primarily focused on VR performance, upgrading your GPU would be a smart move. The newer RTX 50xx series cards would definitely help with that. Just make sure to check if your motherboard and PSU can support the upgraded card, as they might need to be changed too. Might be worth considering a GPU that balances cost and performance, like the RTX 4070.
Right, definitely confirm the specs, but if you're using a decent PSU like the 650W you have, it should handle many of the new cards just fine.

Thanks for the advice! I'm really just trying to nail down which components need to be upgraded first.
