I'm currently using an Intel i5 12500 with an MSI Pro B660m-a motherboard and DDR4 3200 MT/s RAM. My CPU has recently died, and I'm considering upgrading to either an i5 13500, 14400, or 14500. I want to know if this motherboard can handle the upgrade, especially since I've heard that these newer CPUs can generate quite a bit of heat. I'm using a Deepcool AK400 air cooler, and I'm hoping I won't need to change it. I want to make the most out of my current setup without doing a complete overhaul. Here's my build spec for reference: * Intel 12500 (died recently, considering 14500/14400/13500) * Deepcool AK400 CPU Air Cooler * MSI Pro B660m-a LGA 1700 DDR4 * Corsair Vengeance 8*2 GB DDR4-3200 RAM * Corsair CV650 650Watt 80 Plus Bronze Certified * 1080p 165 Hz monitor. Thanks for any advice!

Honestly, there won’t be a huge performance boost. You’re likely looking at just a 5-10fps increase no matter which CPU you choose. So, it might be best to go with the one that’s cheapest!
If you're looking for longevity, consider going for the 14600K. It provides a noticeable performance boost that will keep you well-equipped for longer, especially on this platform.
I was thinking about it too, but since the 660 board can’t unlock K series, wouldn’t that just be overkill?
Your board is pretty solid! It can even handle a 12900K without any issues. So upgrading to any of the newer i5 options should be fine, no need to stress about VRMs.

But since they're all in a similar price range, maybe consider the one that offers the best performance for your needs?
