I'm looking to upgrade my CPU from an AMD 7500F to a 9800X3D. My current setup includes a B650M-HDV motherboard, 64GB of DDR5 RAM, an RTX 4060 graphics card, a 600W power supply, a 463GB SSD, and a 2TB HDD. I've checked a few PSU calculators, and they suggest that my new setup would only need around 345 watts, but I want to get more opinions on this before I make the switch. Any advice would be appreciated!

Honestly, I wouldn't risk putting a 9800X3D on that ASRock motherboard. They have a reputation for having weaker VRMs, and running that chip with a 4060 feels a bit off to me. What's your plan if it doesn't work out? Do you have another CPU in mind?
Your 600W power supply should handle everything just fine, especially since the 9800X3D only uses about 160W at max load. But keep in mind there's been some trouble with ASRock motherboards frying those X3D CPUs, so just be cautious with that pairing. Also, make sure to update your BIOS before you swap out the CPU! Don't forget about a good cooler—consider a dual tower cooler like the Thermalright Peerless Assassin if you don’t have one already.
600W is plenty for the 9800X3D. But I do wonder why you'd go for that CPU when you're also thinking about upgrading your GPU to a 4090 later on. Wouldn't it make more sense to prioritize the graphics card first and then upgrade the CPU?
