I'm looking to upgrade my PC's graphics card since my current NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti has started showing some issues. I've been considering the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 5070 WINDFORCE, but I'm a bit nervous about the whole process of upgrading. I want to know what I need to do and whether it's worth the hassle. Do I need any special cables or adaptors, and what steps should I follow for the installation? Here are my PC specs for reference:

- Case: iBUYPOWER Lian Li LANCOOL ONE Tempered Glass RGB Gaming Case
- Processor: Intel Core i7-12700KF (8 cores at 3.60GHz + 4 cores at 2.70GHz, 25MB L3 Cache)
- Motherboard: ASUS PRIME Z690-A
- Memory: 32 GB DDR5-5200MHz
- Current Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti - 8GB GDDR6
- Power Supply: 700 Watt - 80 PLUS Gold Certified
- Operating System: Windows 11 Home

It's essential to be sure the issues are GPU-related before upgrading. If you're having performance problems and your GPU fan is failing, switching cards is probably necessary. When you install the new GPU, the RTX 5070 should come with the needed adapter for your power supply. Additionally, remember to clean install the Nvidia drivers, either via the GeForce Experience app or using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) for a cleaner transition between cards.

Thanks for the advice! I noticed my GPU fan has been acting weird, and I've been having trouble running some newer games. I'm planning to do the driver clean install as well. By the way, I see a 6-pin and a 2-pin connected to my current GPU, but there’s also another 6-pin just hanging loose. Should I be connecting both? I’m confused since that makes 14 pins, not 16.

The 5070 is a solid choice! Your 700W power supply should work, but it's on the lower side, so just keep an eye on it. You might need an adapter for the power connection; make sure it's a good quality one to avoid any issues. It's usually pretty straightforward to swap the cards out, so don't stress too much!

I've been struggling to find the right cable to connect the new card. Do you know which adapter I should get for a power supply that goes from the 8 pin used by the 3060 Ti to the 16 pin needed for the 5070?
