Hey everyone! I'm a software engineer with around 5 years of experience in web development. While my current full-time job pays about $30k a year, I'm finding that I need to boost my income a bit. I've been considering options like freelancing or creating a product, but nothing has really clicked for me yet. I'm even open to taking on another job, whether full-time or part-time, just to save up some extra cash. If anyone has advice or ideas for me, I'd really appreciate it! I'm willing to put in the work and I'm not searching for quick fixes. Thanks in advance!

One key thing is to learn the business side of software development. Understand why businesses are willing to pay for tech solutions and what value these solutions bring to them. If you can explain how investing in your project can help a company save or earn more money, you’ll unlock a lot of opportunities for yourself. Just keep in mind that you need to deliver real value. If companies see that your solutions lead to greater outcomes, you’ll find there's a lot of demand for your services!
I've been in your shoes, and the first thing to accept is that this journey won't be easy, and that's totally fine. Start building a public portfolio showcasing your best work and try to connect with business professionals through comments, calls, or in-person events. The more you put yourself out there while continuing to deliver quality work, the more opportunities you'll have.
You might want to consider finding remote jobs from countries that offer higher pay. I've had better luck in that area. Freelancing is also an option, but getting started can be really tough—it takes time to build your portfolio and client base.
Yeah, I’ve definitely felt that struggle getting into freelancing myself!
Thanks for the solid advice! I'll keep that in mind!
