I'm curious about how to connect a microphone to the speakers at a fast food drive-thru. Is this something that varies by chain? What equipment would I need to accomplish this?

If you're really determined, I’d suggest finding out if the drive-thru system is digital or analog. For digital ones, you’d likely need to hack into the system, which could land you in hot water. Analog systems might involve some wiring to connect your mic, but again, tampering could get you in trouble. Just watch out!
In some cases, you could simply access the head unit inside the building and start there, but you’ll definitely need to know how all this tech works. Some systems have RCA inputs, which could be a way in, but again, I wouldn't recommend it if you don’t want a call from the cops!
Sounds like you might be looking at some serious trouble! If you're thinking of connecting your mic to the drive-thru system, you'll probably be getting into some shady territory. Most of these systems are wired and meant for internal use, so tampering with them could be considered vandalism. Just a heads up, it's probably not worth the risk!
But hey, if it's just for a prank with a friend, could you not just talk to the employee and ask them nicely to relay your joke? That might be a lot less risky!

That sounds tricky! Do you think there’s a way to do it without getting caught? Seems like lots of people have pulled it off!
