What do I do if I’m missing a PSU cable for my new GPU?

I just got an ASUS Prime 9070XT graphics card, and it requires three 8-pin connectors. However, I only have two 8-pin cables from my old 6800XT setup. I lost the box for my power supply unit (PSU), so I'm wondering if any cables come with the new GPU or what my options are.

Are you saying your PSU has connectors but you're missing an actual cable? If that's the case, go to the manufacturer's website and find compatible cables for your PSU. Mixing random cables can definitely damage your setup, so be cautious with that.

Do you think using just 2x8 might work? I heard that most 9070XTs can run on 2x8 connectors.

I only have the 2x8 from my 6800XT; I don't think I have another 8-pin.

Typically, no cables come with a GPU; they usually just include adapters. It's crucial not to use random cables as that could fry your components. Check if your existing cables have a pigtail—if so, you might be able to use that for the third connector. If you have two separate cables, you likely can't combine them. Some brands do sell their own compatible cables, so make sure to get the right ones from your GPU brand and not just any generic extension.

What's a pigtail?
