What Do We Know About Upcoming Age Verification Laws for Linux Distributions?

I'm trying to wrap my head around age-verification laws that seem to be on the horizon, especially since my country currently doesn't have any in place. I'm curious about whether these laws will apply to Linux distributions universally or just in certain regions. Personally, I'm concerned about any potential requirements for providing my personal information. Is there any straightforward resource that breaks down this situation? Also, I found out that the Linux distro I use, Cachy, has decided against implementing any age verification for now, but that might change depending on future laws.

You're right to be concerned about how this might play out. Many regions might not have laws today, but it seems likely that such regulations will spread soon. With Linux, you'll likely have options to avoid sharing age information, especially if apps and websites start requiring it through common APIs. Whether they default to the lowest age group is still up in the air. It's a waiting game, for sure!

That's a valid point! I mean, I'm not too worried about my age personally, but I totally get the hesitation around handing over personal info. I’m sure there will be ways to circumvent that if it becomes an issue.

Honestly, it's hard to tell right now because things are moving so quickly. But you’re probably in the clear at the moment. Keep an eye on it, though; things could shift fast!
