What Graphics Card Should I Buy Instead of the 4060?

I've been saving for a 4060 for quite some time, but since it's no longer in production, I'm unsure what to buy now, especially with the current inflated prices. I'm looking for a mid-to-high-end graphics card right now. I currently have a 1050 Ti paired with an AMD Ryzen 5 8600G and 32GB of RAM. My power supply is pretty powerful, but I don't remember the specifics. What do you recommend?

You’ve got a few good options depending on your budget:
- For around $200, consider the RX 6700 XT or RTX 3070 (regular or Ti).
- If you can stretch to $300, look at the RX 6800 XT or RTX 3080.
- At $450, the RTX 4070 Super or RX 7900 (GRE or XT) are solid choices.
- For about $600, you can go for the RX 7900 XT. Just remember to look for used cards if you want to save some cash!

I recently upgraded from a 980 Ti to a 9070 XT and I can say it's been a game-changer! I’m able to play at 4K ultra with 144Hz smoothness, but keep in mind that for modern AAA titles, you might need to tweak settings for optimal performance. A bit of caution: don’t aim too high with expectations on 4K gaming without sacrificing some settings.

Let’s be realistic, achieving that performance without lowering settings in modern games will be tough. A 9070 XT can do well at 4K, especially if you utilize FSR or DLSS.

What’s your budget these days? And are you only interested in new cards, or are you open to used options?

If you’re around $300, consider a used RX 6800 XT. It has 16GB of VRAM and gives you solid performance for 1440p gaming, surpassing the 4060 by quite a bit. If you really want new, you might find a 5060 Ti 8GB for about $329. Just keep in mind, it has less VRAM, which may limit you in the future despite its decent ray tracing performance.

I have about $322 right now, but I can wait a bit longer to save up more funds.
