What Linux Distro Should I Choose for Gaming and Development?

I've been getting frustrated with Windows 11 like many others, and I'm exploring the world of Linux. I understand that different Linux distributions come with varying configurations out of the box. I primarily use my computer for gaming, watching videos, browsing the web, and programming (I'm a web developer), so I'm okay with using the terminal and troubleshooting issues. One of the main reasons I want to switch is to avoid a bloated operating system and enjoy more customization. I don't play many games with anti-cheat, but I do pirate games occasionally, and I'm unsure how that might affect my experience. I'm currently considering Mint, Catchy OS, and Bazzite. If anyone has advice on which distro might suit my needs better or other suggestions, I would really appreciate it!

I recommend starting with Mint. It's really user-friendly, especially for beginners, and it has great support for gaming. You can always tweak and customize it down the line to fit your needs better. Plus, if you ever run into issues, the community is super helpful!

Stick with Mint! Bazzite might be tempting since it's geared towards gaming, but it's also immovable, which can be a hassle for customization. Catchy OS is a rolling release, and the constant updates can cause headaches. Mint gives you the flexibility you need while still being accessible for gaming once you're set up. Any distro can work for gaming if you tweak it well enough!

Mint is a great choice for newcomers. Just make sure to check your GPU compatibility, especially if you have an Nvidia card. That can make a big difference in your experience, and Mint has solid support for various drivers. If you're comfortable with the terminal, you could also consider trying Cachy OS later once you're more familiar with Linux!

I actually have an Nvidia 4070 Ti Super. Would that work well with Mint?
