I recently replaced my Ryzen CPU after 11 years, and now I'm stuck with a burned out processor. I'm wondering what the best options are for dealing with it. Should I throw it away, keep it for the precious metals, or is there somewhere I can take it?

First, confirm it's really dead. If it powers on but then shuts off, it might not be completely gone. But if it is, just dispose of it as e-waste according to local laws.
You could totally put it on your keyring as a quirky accessory! A fun conversation starter for sure!
How would you even turn that into a keyring?
You could get crafty and embed it in acrylic to make a cool display piece!
I actually solder a little wire onto old CPUs and hang them on my Christmas tree—super unique decoration!
That's such a neat idea! I might try that!
Honestly, there's probably not much value in it. Maybe around €15 if you can extract the precious metals. But you'd need some serious skills and tools to do that!
That doesn't really help my original question, though.
I'd recommend listing it on an auction site for parts only; some folks might want it to try and fix or undervolt it for some extra life.

What's the other way to define burned out if not from heat? Asking for clarity!
