I've recently transitioned from being a remote admin to working onsite with end users, and I'm putting together an everyday carry (EDC) bag for this role. So far, I have an iFixit kit, a USB with Clonezilla, a USB with our premade images, and various lengths of cat 5 cable. What else do you think I should include to make sure I'm well-prepared?

I'd recommend upgrading your USB with Clonezilla to something larger and also adding a Medicat USB. It's packed with tools for troubleshooting various PC and server issues. I also added some other ISOs to mine for extra coverage. Definitely worth checking out!

I like to bring an electric screwdriver or a small drill if I'm expecting to do a lot of assembly or disassembly. A box cutter is also great for cutting through any zip ties you encounter!

Don't forget a good multitool or a knife! I also carry a gun tool for printer fixes, a Fluke cable tester, a multimeter, and every type of adapter and cable you could think of. You can never be too prepared!

It really depends on the tasks you’ll be tackling. I always include a USB to serial cable, crimping tool, and a punchdown tool in my kit. Disk images can be cumbersome, so I suggest having an IODD with ISO files instead!

Honestly, I just bring my laptop every day. My desk is stocked with an iFixit kit and some thumb drives, but I don't see the need to haul around a whole bag of gear. Sometimes less is more!
