What Should I Upgrade to Maximize My RTX 5070 Ti’s Performance?

I just won an RTX 5070 Ti Windforce SFF 16G in a raffle, but my current setup is pretty outdated. I'm looking for advice on how to make the most of my new GPU without spending a fortune or buying too many older components. My plan is to upgrade my motherboard, CPU (plus cooler), and RAM all at once, but I'm not sure I can afford high-end options like an i9 or a 9800X3D. I'm curious if there's a good motherboard and CPU combo that would allow for future upgrades. Should I wait until I can gather all necessary parts and can I safely plug the GPU into my old system without damaging anything? I know that it might not perform at its best with my current components, but I want to ensure I won't fry anything in the process.

If I were you, I'd consider building a new PC around the 5070 Ti. Since you got the GPU for free, it makes sense to allocate a decent budget for the other components and make sure everything's compatible and modern.

An i7 7700K really won't cut it for the 5070 Ti; it would seriously bottleneck your GPU. A new platform is essential. Look into getting a Ryzen 7 7700X or an Intel i7 13th gen. It'll help future-proof your setup.

Given that your other parts are quite old, the best route is definitely a rebuild around the GPU. A good entry point could be a B650 motherboard paired with a Ryzen 7600X. Just remember, you'll definitely need a new PSU too!

You could also sell the GPU and use the cash to fund an entirely new build. That way, you'd ensure maximum performance right off the bat, which might be better than trying to upgrade an old system.
