Hey everyone, I recently built my first PC and I'm experiencing some frustrating performance issues in Fortnite. Every 3 to 4 seconds, my FPS drops to exactly 19, regardless of what's happening on the screen—whether I'm standing still or in the middle of a fight. The drops are consistent and seem tied to a specific timing, which is really puzzling.
I've got a fresh Windows 11 installation with the latest BIOS and drivers. I've tried multiple fixes, like changing graphics settings, disabling overlays, and tweaking BIOS settings related to power management and latency, but nothing seems to stop the drops. I'm starting to wonder if it's an issue with my AM5/X3D setup, a bug in the BIOS or Windows, or something specific to Fortnite. Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions for troubleshooting?

Have you tested this in other games? If the issue is only in Fortnite, it might not be your hardware. However, if it's happening across the board, I’d recommend reseating the GPU and all power connections, just to rule that out.
I don’t have the 9800X3D, but I've read that it can encounter micro stutters. Try searching online for "9800X3D micro stutters" for some potential fixes—could find something useful there!
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll definitely check that out.
Are you loading shaders in the game? Sometimes those can cause stuttering issues. If the FPS drops persist regardless of playing time, it might not be related to just shader compilation.
I don’t think so. I’ve let it run for a while to compile shaders, but the drops keep happening every few seconds. It feels different from normal shader issues.
Just double-check that your monitor cable is connected to the GPU, not the CPU. Also, there’s something known as "Cosmetic Streaming" in Fortnite that can cause performance drops, especially in the lobby or bus. It could be worth letting the game run for a while and seeing if it improves once more assets load. Just a thought!

I played other games like RDR2 and Counter-Strike without any issues. Seems like it's just Fortnite causing this problem.
