I'm looking to upgrade my aging PC from 2015 that can't support Windows 11 anymore and struggles with basic multitasking while gaming. I mainly play League of Legends, and although it runs at over 100FPS on high settings, it stutters when I open Discord. I also do some 3D CAD/CAM work in Fusion and Solidworks, along with occasional video editing, but it works fine enough for now.
Currently, I have an i5-4690, a GTX 960, and 8GB of DDR3 RAM. I'm considering upgrading to a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and pairing it with an RTX 5070 to improve performance, but I'm worried about future-proofing since I usually don't upgrade for around 10 years. I've also looked into the 9950X3D, which seems perfect for gaming and more, but may be overkill for my use.
What do you think? Is the 9800X3D a solid choice, or should I consider other options for better future-proofing? Here's the build I'm looking at: [link].

For League and basic tasks, any new hardware will do fine! If you’re thinking future-proof, I’d swap the 9700X for a 7800X3D and maybe aim for a 5070 Ti over the 5070. The 7800X3D has some serious cache benefits that boost gaming performance, and the 5070 Ti will give you extra VRAM for 4K gaming and heavy graphics tasks.
The 9800X3D is definitely a solid choice for now! But don’t stress too much about trying to future-proof. You can’t really predict what's going to be 'future-proof' until later on. Just make sure to get what's right for you now, and you should be good!

What do you think about the difference between the 9800X3D and the 7800X3D for future planning?
