Why isn’t my SSD being recognized on startup?

I've been using my SSD without issues, but just yesterday I turned on my PC and it only goes into BIOS without recognizing the SSD. After switching it off and on a couple of times, it still wouldn't work. However, after leaving it off for about 5-10 minutes, it worked fine again without any problems. Could the cold room temperature be causing this issue, making it need to warm up?

Have you tried reseating the SSD? Just remove it and put it back in. Sometimes that helps!

I plan to try that tomorrow, but I'll have to remove my NH-D15 cooler, which is a bit of a hassle since I haven’t touched it in ages.

Definitely run CrystalDiskInfo to check the SMART health data of your drive. It's unlikely to be caused by the cold; your SSD may be taking longer to initialize and could be nearing the BIOS timeout. Checking the health of the drive is essential.

It sounds like your SSD might be failing. Make sure to back up your data and consider getting a new drive soon.

Unless the room is super cold, I doubt that's the issue. How long has your SSD been working fine before this happened?

It's been good since 2022. It was fine until I turned off the PC to sleep, but the next day it wouldn't recognize it. CrystalDisk says it's at 91% health with no errors.
