What’s the Best Budget GPU for My Setup?

I'm looking to upgrade my GPU as I'm currently using an old GTX 970. My PC has a Ryzen 7 7700 processor and 32GB of RAM, and I usually game on a 1080p 60Hz monitor. I'm considering the RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB or the RTX 5070, but the prices are quite steep here—$510 for the 5060 Ti and $650 for the 5070. With my earnings at $6 per hour, that price difference is significant. I'm also thinking about upgrading my monitor to 1440p and 144Hz in the next year or two. Do you think it's worth spending the extra cash on the 5070, or should I just go with the 5060 Ti?

I’d recommend going for the RX 9060 XT instead, or if you can stretch your budget, the RX 9070. NVIDIA GPUs can be overpriced in your price range.

Make sure the prices you quoted are in USD. The RX 9060 XT 16GB is great for 1440p and can often be found for under $400. That way, you save some cash for a new monitor too!

Yeah, those are the exact prices after currency conversion and tax in my country. The RX 9060 XT 16GB is around $455-$460 here, so it’s a bit more pricey.

Honestly, both GPUs you're looking at are way more than you need for 1080p gaming. They can handle 1440p at high settings, but if you're not rushing for that upgrade, the 5060 Ti should be fine for now. Maybe grab a solid 1440p monitor later when you're ready.
