What’s the Best Linux Distro for Gaming and Customization?

I'm on the hunt for a Linux distro that's ideal for daily use and gaming. I want something that's customizable but not overly complex. I've tried Manjaro before, but I found it frustrating to install Steam with Wine, which took way too long. I've also used Mint a bit when setting it up for family and friends, and it worked great for them without any issues.

As someone working in IT, I prefer to avoid spending my free time debugging instead of gaming. My gaming needs aren't too crazy—mostly light to medium games like Factorio, Warframe, Satisfactory, and Palworld, but no modern shooters like CoD or Battlefield.

I also appreciate distros with an app store or good command line documentation, as I want to avoid having to install multiple applications just to get one working, looking at you, Wine!

My setup includes a 3700x CPU, a 5700x GPU, and 32GB of RAM. I've considered OpenSuse and Devuan, but I've heard OpenSuse might not be the best for gaming. Anyone have suggestions or thoughts?

CachyOS is definitely worth a shot! I've been using it on my Steam Deck without any issues. It's designed to be user-friendly for gamers with minimal tinkering. If that doesn't work for you, consider Bazzite, especially since you have all AMD hardware.

Bazzite is great if you prefer a more console-like experience, but CachyOS seems to fit your needs better!

If you're looking for more information on migration, check out the wiki's migration page. It can be super helpful for switching distros without losing your mind over setup.

I recently switched to CachyOS and it's been fantastic! The gaming experience has been smooth, so I highly recommend giving it a go if you're looking for something solid. Just remember Factorio has a native Linux build, so you're good there!

Totally agree! By the way, KDE Plasma on CachyOS works wonderfully, but if you like something more like a Mac, Gnome is also a great choice.
