Hey everyone! I'm a complete newbie to Linux and I've recently got a 2020 MacBook Air with the M1 chip. I'm looking to use this laptop as a dedicated machine for cryptocurrency work, along with having a cold wallet. I want to install Linux on it, but I'm unsure if it's a good idea or even what version might work best. Looking for your thoughts and advice—thanks!

With the M1 chip, it's not just about finding the best version of Linux; it's more about what even runs on it. As far as I know, Asahi Linux is the main one that works on Apple M1. Definitely check that out!
To clarify, that 2015 MacBook Air you mentioned won’t work with M1. If you really have a 2020 model, just know that your options will be limited due to the ARM architecture. If you have that older 2015 model around, it opens up a lot more Linux options for you.
Oops, yeah, I meant 2020! I also have a 2015 model that I don’t use much. What do you recommend for it?
Just a heads up, you mentioned a 2015 MacBook Air, but the M1 chip version came out in 2020. You might want to double-check what computer you're actually working with.
Thanks for the tip!
