I'm looking to download movies, TV shows, and maybe some anime onto an external hard drive so that I can keep them forever. I want to be able to watch classics like 'Pirates of the Caribbean' or any recent films years down the line, even if streaming services decide to remove them. Is there a legal way to do this? I'm thinking about collecting around 50-100 of my favorites. Any advice on how to go about it?

Honestly, the easiest and most legal way to go is to buy Blu-rays of the films you love. You can then rip them onto your hard drive for personal use, which keeps your collection safe.
It all really comes down to the copyright laws in your country regarding digital copies. If you own the physical media like DVDs or Blu-rays, some places allow for personal backups. Just be sure to check so you don't run into any legal trouble!
Thanks! That sounds like a solid plan. I’ll start looking for some Blu-rays.
