What’s the safest way to store private photos without sharing?

I'm wondering about the safety of storing private photos by using a separate memory card with a Sony camera. I plan to occasionally connect it to my Windows computer to view the pictures, but I won't move them to the computer. My main goal is to keep these photos safe from prying eyes without sharing them online. Is this method secure enough? Also, can I create a password-protected folder on the memory card? I just want to make sure others can't access the photos. Data loss doesn't concern me as much. Thanks!

If you're thinking about securing your files, consider using encryption tools. Some folks suggest keeping them off the internet and maybe using something like Veracrypt to create an encrypted container on your computer. You can store the photos there, which makes them less accessible to anyone else.

Honestly, the best way to avoid any risk is just not to store them at all. But if you must, make sure to keep them off any online platform and consider using something like BitLocker for that extra layer of security.

If you're going for a physical approach, make sure to keep your memory card safe and secure, and remember it can be lost or found. So even encrypted photos have some risk if someone accesses that card.

Just avoid keeping anything like that on a device connected to the internet. Encrypting files can definitely help, and tools like Crytomator can allow you to keep access to your files while still protecting them.

It's definitely safer to avoid cloud storage entirely. If you want to keep your photos private, just ensure the memory card stays disconnected from the internet and any device that could expose it.
