I'm currently using an Intel 14900K and it's been a nightmare with poor performance and high temperatures, plus I keep getting blue screens and errors. I'm looking to replace my entire PC. I need something that will handle work tasks like streaming, video editing, and spreadsheets, but I don't game much, even though I have a 4090 GPU. I'm torn between the Intel 285K with a Z890 motherboard or the AMD 9950X3D with an X870 motherboard. Price isn't an issue; I just want a reliable and high-performing setup. Given my past issues with Intel, I'm leaning towards AMD, but I'm not sure! Any recommendations?

It really depends on the software you use. You should check out benchmarks to see where each CPU shines. The Core Ultra might not fare well in gaming, but it can still do well for productivity in certain applications. Definitely look into comparisons before you make a choice.
Go with the 9950X3D for the best performance! It's the top choice right now.
Definitely go for the 9950X3D! Pair it with an MSI X870(e) Tomahawk. If your budget allows, grab the MSI X870e Carbon instead. It’s top-notch gear, and you can always scale back a bit on RAM and the cooler if you want to save some cash. Just don't forget to get a CPU bracket for better weight distribution!
Honestly, I wouldn't bother with the X3D. It runs at lower clock speeds than its non-X3D counterparts. I’d stick to the 9950X, unless you need something from Intel like QuickSync for video editing. They have different designs, too, which can impact performance.
If you’re not gaming much, you probably don’t need the 9950X3D. The 285K and 9950X are both good options, but I’m not really convinced by Intel right now, considering how power-hungry their latest chips are. The 9950X could be a better choice, but I'd wait for more opinions before deciding. Just my two cents!
That's solid advice! A good PSU can make a difference too, like going for Seasonic or Asus TUF for more reliability.
