I'm looking to upgrade my CPU from a 3600x and need some advice. Currently, I have a 6700xt GPU, 16GB of RAM, and a 1440p 144Hz monitor. Here are my options:
- AMD 5600x for $150 CAD
- AMD 5700x for $205 CAD
- AMD 5800x for $227 CAD
- AMD 5700x3D for $454 CAD
The 5700x is appealing with its 8 cores, but I'm unsure if it's worth the extra $55. I occasionally multitask, but I haven't been able to find a used 5700x3D, and the prices are quite high. What do you all think?

The 5700X is a good pick; it strikes a nice balance in terms of performance and price. If you can justify the extra cores for multitasking, it could be worth it.
Given you're gaming at 1440p, I'd hold off on upgrading right now. The 5600X isn't a big leap for $150, and the 5700X performs similarly. Maybe wait for a better deal on that 5700X3D!
Honestly, I'd skip the 5700X and 5700X3D with those price hikes. The 5600X and 5800X are solid choices if you're expecting to benefit from more cores. If you're mostly gaming, they should serve you well without breaking the bank.
Consider going for the 5800XT instead of 5700X or 5800X if you can. It's faster, and it's been going for around $200 in the U.S. The performance is really solid, especially with your current GPU!
Check out some YouTube comparisons between the 5600X and 5800X at 1440p. You might find that the performance difference is negligible, so the 5600X could be a smart buy if you're mostly gaming.

I actually snagged it on sale for $150 recently. If you keep an eye out, it might go on sale again. It works great as an upgrade from my old 3800X!
