Which GPU Should I Choose for 1080p Gaming and Work?

I'm looking to build a PC for 1080p gaming and some light work, though I don't plan on diving into 3D software or AI image generators just yet. I want to choose the best GPU options within my budget in Poland. Could you suggest one budget-friendly GPU and one that costs a bit more? Performance is my priority, but I also want to know about any quirks, potential issues (like the recent Nvidia power connector problem), and additional features that might make one card stand out over another, even if the performance is slightly lower. Here are the GPUs I'm considering, listed from lowest to highest price: GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4060 Eagle OC 8GB, MSI GeForce RTX 5060 Ventus 2X OC 8GB, ASROCK Radeon RX 7600 XT Challenger 16GB, GIGABYTE Radeon RX 7700 XT Gaming OC 12GB, XFX Radeon RX 7800 XT Speedster Qick 319 Core 16GB, and PALIT GeForce RTX 5060 Ti Infinity 3 16GB. I just want to make sure I'm making a solid choice within my price range!

Honestly, for performance, the 7800 XT is the best pick here, comparable to the 4070, which is impressive. The 7700 XT also performs better than the 4060 and 5060. If you’re going to be doing some light 3D work in the future, consider the 5060 for its upscaling tech like DLSS, which can make entry-level gaming much smoother without sacrificing too much quality. In terms of gaming performance, I’d rank them: 7800 XT > 7700 XT > 5060. But if your main focus is productivity, the 5060 just edges out the others for that purpose.

Since I'm mostly gaming at 1080p, I want to minimize reliance on upscaling, so I'm leaning towards AMD. For the light 3D work I’ll do, I think I can manage with a good processor and RAM. What are your thoughts on the 5060 Ti? It's often $50-80 cheaper than the 7800 XT, which makes it appealing for a tight budget.

If you're mainly gaming, the 7800 XT might still be worth it; it's a beast!

If you're leaning towards productivity, the 7800 XT is top-tier, but if you're focused strictly on work stuff, NVIDIA might have the edge. Though for the light tasks you mentioned, a solid processor with ample RAM should suffice. For higher-end gaming, I'd still recommend the 7800 XT.

Since I’m more of a beginner in programming, I don’t need super advanced GPU capabilities. The 7800 XT seems like a solid choice then!

For your higher-end pick, definitely go for the 7800 XT, and for the mid-range, I’d recommend the RTX 5060. Just make sure to double-check which model best suits your needs, especially if you go with the regular 5060.

Yes, I’m thinking regular 5060 for mid-range too—seems like a solid choice!

I’ve been looking into this as well, and I noticed that the 7700 XT and 5060 Ti are about the same price right now, while the 7800 XT is quite a bit more expensive. Definitely something to consider on a budget!

Definitely! The price difference is real, and considering your budget, the 7700 XT or 5060 Ti might be the better options.
