I'm setting up Fedora KDE on my Thinkpad x250 and heard that Power Profiles Daemon (PPD) comes preinstalled. I'm trying to figure out which option, PPD or TLP, will give me the best battery life. Are they similar, or is there a significant difference? Any recommendations on which one to use for maximizing battery performance would be appreciated. Thanks!

I’ve found that TLP works better right off the bat. Once you install it, it’s pretty much ready to go without much configuration. Easy to use!

From my experience, TLP does a better job of saving battery and is much more customizable for different scenarios. If you like tinkering with settings, give it a shot!

TLP can definitely improve battery life when you set it up right, but it takes a bit of effort. I’d avoid powertop, though; that one’s a hassle. Personally, I think if you just want something that works without the fuss, PPD is a solid choice. It integrates nicely with most systems and has clear battery settings, which is super user-friendly.

Yeah, I agree! PPD's balance mode gives me great battery life without cramping my system's performance. Can't go wrong with that!

I think PPD is pretty good for everyday use. I don’t want the trouble of tweaking TLP settings just for a bit more battery life. PPD keeps it simple, and that suits me fine!
