Which Linux Distribution is Best for Gaming on a Low-End Laptop?

I'm considering switching from Windows because it's really slowing down my low-end laptop with high CPU and RAM usage, even when I'm not actively using it. A friend mentioned a distro called Winux, but I got mixed feedback when I asked about it, including that heavier games like GTA V might not run well. I'm looking for a user-friendly version of Linux that can handle gaming without too much hassle. Any suggestions?

Before making a switch, think about the types of games you play. Check out sites like ProtonDB to see if your favorite games work on Linux. For instance, GTA V may not run online, which could be a dealbreaker if you're into that.

You should definitely check out Nobara. I've been using it for over a year, and I haven't faced any issues related to gaming at all! It's tailored for gaming performance.

If you're looking for a distro, I'd recommend checking out ZorinOS or Pop!_OS. They're both Debian/Ubuntu-based and have great user support. Mint is also a fantastic all-rounder. Just make sure to read the Wiki for whatever you choose to help you set things up correctly, especially for gaming.

Heavier games can run on Linux, but it really depends on your hardware and whether Proton supports them. For example, GTA V is listed as 'gold' on ProtonDB, meaning it runs pretty well. Just remember, Linux has a different setup process than Windows; you can't just double-click .exe files to install software.

Bazzite is a solid choice for gaming; it's user-friendly and gets decent performance. Just keep in mind it's an immutable system, which means it has some limitations. I started with Bazzite myself but switched to Nobara after a few days, and I’m really happy with it now.

Yeah, Bazzite has its quirks, but if you're okay with those, it might be a good fit. Nobara's definitely worth a look for something a bit more flexible.
