Why am I getting a ‘not enough space’ error while extracting a large ZIP file?

I'm trying to extract a 17GB ZIP file onto a 1TB hard drive that has around 600GB of free space. The extraction process starts off fine, but about two-thirds of the way through, I get an error saying "cannot set length for output file: there is not enough space on the disk." Does anyone know why this happens?

Also, consider how much space you have on your main OS drive (typically C:). The extraction may be creating a temporary file that requires extra space before moving it to the final destination. Make sure there’s enough room there too!

I actually have about 5GB left on that drive. I'll try to clear some space and see if that helps!

Are you sure your drive isn't formatted as FAT32? If it is, that could be the issue since it can't handle files larger than 4GB. Just something to check!
