Why am I getting lower FPS after upgrading my GPU?

I recently sold my NVIDIA 4060 and upgraded to a new AMD 9070 graphics card. However, I'm noticing that my frames per second (FPS) have actually dropped. I used to get around 200-220 FPS, but now I'm only hitting 190-200 FPS. I installed the new AMD drivers using DDU to uninstall any NVIDIA remnants. My setup includes an i7 from the 14th generation, the 9070, 32GB of RAM, and an SSD M.2 drive. Can anyone help me figure out why my FPS seems lower with this better GPU?

First off, could you provide more details about your specs? Just mentioning "32 RAM" and "i7-14th" isn't specific enough. Which game are you experiencing this FPS drop in? Are your game settings exactly the same as before, and were you using any DLSS scaling or NVIDIA-specific settings that might not be enabled now? It's hard to say without more info if this is a scientific test or just one game.

It might be as simple as changing settings during the switch. You could also be CPU-limited depending on the game you’re playing. What game are you seeing this drop in FPS with?

If you switched GPU brands, sometimes a clean Windows reinstall helps clear up any driver conflicts or leftover settings. Also, make sure your power supply unit (PSU) is supplying enough wattage for your new setup. What wattage are you using?

There could be various reasons for this drop. Often, when switching GPU brands from NVIDIA to AMD, game settings can change to higher resolutions or quality levels by default, or any previously enabled upscaling features might be turned off. Did you install the latest AMD drivers? That could also impact performance.

Have you checked if 'Resizable BAR' is enabled in the Adrenalin software? It’s a quick setting to adjust and sometimes it requires a couple of reboots to take effect. It could potentially improve your performance.
