I was trying to participate in the CT Lottery while I was abroad by accessing my home computer via TeamViewer. However, the site flagged me as being out of state and prevented me from playing. I wasn't aware that I had to be physically located in Connecticut to play. Can anyone explain how they are detecting my actual location?

They may not necessarily know you're using remote access, so there might be some misunderstanding. It’s possible that something isn’t working right, or the site could have different methods for detecting location that don’t just rely on the remote PC’s IP.
Could the 30-mile variance actually put you into an area that’s on tribal land in Connecticut? That might be a separate case for the lottery's regulations.
Try connecting to your home PC, open a browser, and go to this site: https://www.where-am-i.co/my-ip-location. It should help clarify what your IP location is showing.
It shows CT, USA, within about a 30-mile range. So, there’s really no reason for CTLottery to think I’m not in Connecticut. It's definitely puzzling.
I've tried multiple times, and I keep getting the same warning. This hasn't happened with other apps or sites I’ve connected to from abroad, like the old Home Depot app. It seems like CTLottery might be using a different way to check my location or having issues with the detection.
