I'm finding it frustrating that in Linux Mint Cinnamon, when I try to upload a file, I don't have the option to rename or edit the file directly from the upload dialog, unlike in Windows. For instance, in Windows, I can quickly rename a file or crop an image right from the upload interface. But in Linux, it feels like I have to open a new window for the same folder just to make these changes. Is this situation common across different Linux desktop environments or file managers? I'm trying to adjust to Linux, but this workflow issue is really slowing me down.

It's largely about the file explorer you are using. Different file managers offer different features. Linux Mint is designed for beginners, so sometimes you have to dig a bit deeper to find what you need. Try downloading some alternative file managers, like Dolphin, which are more feature-rich.
The dialog behavior you're experiencing isn't universal; it depends on the toolkit the applications use. Cinnamon is based on Gnome, which tends to keep things simple to avoid overwhelming users. If you're looking for more functionality in your dialogs, you might want to try out KDE/Plasma apps or switch to that desktop environment.

But just so you know, switching file managers won't change the upload dialog capabilities since those are tied to the apps themselves.
