I need some help understanding a strange situation I encountered recently. A few weeks ago, I set up an event on my iPhone calendar for a trip and invited my husband by entering his email. Later, he declined the invitation because I thought he might have accidentally clicked something wrong. We went on the trip, and I brought it up later. To my surprise, he insisted he hadn't declined it. I then showed him the calendar, and there it was—his name with a 'declined' note next to it. It got weirder when he suggested I message the email through iMessage, so I sent a simple 'hi' and ended up talking to his sister! She picked up the call, confused, which led me to wonder how she received messages and calls sent to his email. They've never shared any accounts, emails, or phones. How could this happen? Does she somehow have access to his information? I'm just trying to figure this out and stop overthinking it!

Maybe have your husband send you an email to double-check that he's using the email you think he is? This way, you can confirm what's going on.
You should check the settings on your iPhone. Go to Messages and see what emails are listed under 'Send & Receive'. It's possible an email they shared at some point didn’t get removed. Apple uses these for calls and messages, so that could be the source of the confusion.
What do you have saved in your contacts for your husband and his sister? Are there any mix-ups there that could have caused the confusion? That might be worth checking out!
It's also possible that she might have just answered as him without realizing it was a message from you. Maybe she let it slide think it was from him for some reason?
Could it be that they are sharing an Apple ID? That would explain the cross-messaging since Apple links messages and calls to associated emails and phone numbers.
No, they definitely don't share an Apple ID!
