Why does my mouse feel smoother on Windows 11 compared to Linux?

I've been using EndeavourOS with KDE on my ThinkPad equipped with an Nvidia dGPU for about three months now, and overall, it's been a great experience. Everything runs really well, often even better than on Windows, and I've managed to solve most minor issues that popped up while getting used to Linux. However, I've noticed that when I switch between the two operating systems, the mouse cursor on Linux feels a bit floaty and less responsive compared to the buttery smoothness I experience on Windows 11. I've turned off mouse acceleration in both systems, disabled mouse precision settings, and even closed the mouse's app to ensure nothing is interfering. I'm running on Wayland because it performs better for me on this hardware. If anyone has tips to improve mouse response on Linux, I'd greatly appreciate it!

I've dealt with that "floating cursor" issue myself on various Linux distros. Hardware doesn't seem to be the culprit since I’ve used comparable setups and similar mice across both OSs. Personally, I've found that mice like the Microsoft Mobile Mouse perform way better than many Logitech models I’ve tried. It could be a driver issue for some distributions, but it’s something I’ve just learned to live with. Hope somebody finds a fix soon, though!

Interesting! I use a Logitech mouse, and I've never had a problem. Maybe some brands just work better with Linux.
