Why Does My PC Randomly Shut Down While Gaming?

I've got a custom PC that I've been upgrading gradually. My current specs include an Intel 14600KF, 32GB of DDR5 RAM, an AMD 9070XT, and a 1000W power supply. Even though everything besides the motherboard and case is new, I've been experiencing some frustrating issues. During gaming, particularly when I'm playing Minecraft with shaders, my PC just powers down completely without any warning – no BSOD, just off. I've noticed that reinstalling my GPU drivers seems to help temporarily, but the problem always comes back. I've kept my BIOS up to date, and the issue persists whether XMP is enabled or disabled. I'm starting to think it might be an issue with the power supply, but it's a new unit with plenty of wattage for my build. Any ideas on what could be causing these random shutdowns?

Random shutdowns are often linked to power supply issues in my experience. It can either be a faulty PSU or sometimes a bad third-party cable causing trouble.

I tried using a different PSU I had lying around (750W) with no extensions, but now I get no display at all. The GPU has a white light flashing when I power it on, and the DRAM light is on.

It sounds like it might be more of a CPU issue. Newer Intel CPUs, especially from the 13th and 14th gen, have been known to have some voltage regulation problems that can cause random power offs. It’s not uncommon for users to experience this symptom when things start to go bad.

That’s true, it only crashes while doing graphically intensive stuff, not during CPU stress tests.

But you've got a fully updated BIOS, right? That shouldn’t be a problem, especially with an i5. Also, have you noticed any crashes during CPU stress tests, or is it only the graphically intensive games?
