Why Does My Phone Keep Showing “Connected Without Internet” at Home?

I've been grappling with a frustrating issue for months where my Samsung Galaxy A54 5G, which is linked to Verizon, keeps displaying "Connected Without Internet" when I try to use my home Wi-Fi. I have Optimum as my ISP, and they provided an Altice gateway modem/router. It's only my phone that struggles with this connection; all my other devices—two other smartphones, a laptop, several smart TVs, and gaming consoles—connect just fine. My phone will manage to connect occasionally, but after a couple of days, it reverts to that pesky "Connected Without Internet" message. Although restarting my phone or the gateway sometimes offers a temporary fix, it's not consistent. I've followed all troubleshooting steps from Optimum, including a factory reset of the gateway, but none have worked. I'm stumped about whether it's an issue with my phone service or my internet service. Are there any settings I could change or recommend to troubleshoot this? Would getting a separate router help the situation?

I think I found a potential fix! I changed my router settings through Optimum and switched from "Choose a channel" to "Select best channel automatically". For the first time in a week, I'm able to connect to Wi-Fi again. Huge thanks to everyone for their suggestions!

Have you tried manually assigning a different IP address to your phone? I had a similar issue on my Windows machine once. The problem arose when two devices were trying to use the same IP address after a power outage.

I attempted that approach using the IP on my work phone, which has no Wi-Fi problems. No luck, unfortunately. Honestly, I don’t grasp how IP addresses work fully, so I'm at a loss on how to pick a different one.

You might want to set your private DNS to dns.google via Settings > Connections > More settings. Sometimes, that resolves connection issues.

I tried it, but it backfired—I couldn't even connect to my home Wi-Fi after that. Now I'm back to the old issue of being 'Connected Without Internet' and my DNS settings aren't cooperating.
