Why does my Wi-Fi signal drop outside my house?

Hey everyone! I'm really confused about my Wi-Fi situation. When I'm just three feet away from my door on my back patio, I completely lose my Wi-Fi signal on my phone and tablet. However, I can still see my neighbors' 2G and 5G networks. It's so strange! I even have a Wi-Fi extender, but it doesn't seem to help. Can anyone explain why this happens?

It sounds like your walls might be blocking the Wi-Fi signal. Think of it this way: if you have a flashlight under a thick blanket, the light can't get through. That's how radio waves work, too—they need an unobstructed path. If your router is on the other side of the house or upstairs, that could be why it's so weak outside. When you're on the patio, you've only got one or two walls separating you from the neighbor's Wi-Fi, making it easier for you to pick theirs up.

Thanks for the explanation! That makes sense since my router is definitely not close to my patio.
