I'm having a frustrating issue where every time I connect my laptop to my home WiFi, it causes the entire network to drop out. This has been happening since we switched from Consolidated to Fidium a couple of months ago. We have fiber internet and the techs from Fidium have replaced the router, the outdoor connection box, and even set up a relay connection. Despite these efforts, the problem persists. The signal seems fine from the street, but I'm unable to use my laptop without disrupting my husband's work-from-home setup. Is it possible that a signal booster could help? My laptop is located in the dining room, which is only a hallway away from the router. Any thoughts on why this issue is occurring now?

When you say the signal goes down, do you mean your devices still stay connected to the router via Ethernet but WiFi just drops? Or does the whole router power cycle when you connect? If it’s the latter, maybe it’s an issue with the router itself. I’ve read some not-so-great reviews about the routers Fidium provides, so that could be a clue. I'd recommend using your own router if you can.
Have you checked if your laptop is sharing the same static IP address as your router? Sometimes, having conflicting IPs can cause problems like this. For example, if your laptop's IP is xxx.xxx.xxx.123 but your router's is xxx.xxx.xxx.1, it should work, but if there's a conflict, that could be the issue. Might be worth a look!
I looked into that and it's the same for the most part, just the last part is different. I didn't think that could be the problem, but I'll check it out more closely just in case!

Yeah, it seems like the router cycles on its own. It’s weird because it doesn’t always drop when I start my laptop, but it only happens when I'm using it. I think the router needs to be replaced or we need a stronger one!
