Why is Microsoft Trying to Connect to My Devices?

I've noticed that even though I've blocked all outside connections in my Plume home app, it seems like Microsoft and a few other services like Apple and Bungie are repeatedly trying to connect to my devices. This just started happening in the last 10 minutes while my Xbox has been on, and I'm really puzzled about why this is occurring. Can anyone explain what might be going on?

It sounds like you might be misunderstanding the connection flows. Usually, when you block outbound connections, it would prevent your devices from reaching out to Microsoft or Apple instead of them trying to connect to you. Most home setups are set up to block inbound connections by default, so it’s likely just your devices looking for updates or communicating with their servers rather than an actual attempt to connect to your network. I blocked all outbound connections after spotting a known hacker trying to access my router. That’s why I changed my settings from blocking dangerous connections to blocking everything.
