Why is my computer audio coming through my Discord mic?

I've been using a basic headset on my PS for years and just got a splitter aux adapter to use it with my computer. The problem is, whenever I plug in the splitter into the mic slot, all the audio from my computer comes through the microphone instead of just my headset's mic. I've disabled stereo mix and other mics but I'm really stuck on this. Also, I tried using the Realtek audio console, but it keeps saying it can't connect to RPC. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My friends can hear everything from my computer through my mic!

It's likely because your splitter isn't designed to separate audio properly; you're getting the same input twice. Consider using a USB sound card that has a dedicated mic input or invest in a new headset that has separate jacks for the mic and headphones. It helps with clarity and functionality!

Do you have any budget-friendly microphone recommendations? I'm looking for something under $100 that would work well with my existing headphones if I just use the headset for audio.
