Why Is My Family Business Website Flagged for Phishing?

I'm currently handling our family business website, and we've hit a major snag. Our site has been flagged for phishing or malicious activity, making it hard for our existing customers and potential leads to access it. Sometimes they even see an 'unable to connect' message. We run a service primarily focused on billing and logistics as an authorized reseller for DHL.

We're using Joomla as our CMS, hosted through Network Solutions, and our domain is managed by Host Gator. Despite multiple efforts to troubleshoot this issue, we haven't been successful in resolving it, and we've seen more reports of this error from our sales team. My younger brother, who has a good grasp of web programming, including PHP and JavaScript, is currently in charge of the website work. Any insights or suggestions from people with web development experience would be hugely appreciated as we try to determine the source of this problem and ideally eliminate it altogether.

Have you tried switching your site to use HTTPS? Initially, we thought that was the issue when we added it, and it showed some improvement, but it sounds like it didn’t completely solve the problem. It might be worth double-checking if everything is configured correctly.

We did try using HTTPS, and it seemed to work for a bit, but the flagging issue still came back. Seems like there’s something else at play here.

That sounds really frustrating! I've dealt with Joomla and security issues like this before. It could be a number of things like malware flags, SSL issues, or even hosting conflicts. I’d recommend checking to see if there’s a security certificate properly set up for your site. Also, have you looked at Google Search Console for any error messages? It can give you useful insights into what's wrong.
