I recently discovered that someone performed a Google Takeout on my Google Account without my knowledge. It seems like there's a lot of data I could have had available, including my Google Photos and Gmail. Given that I usually have over 10 GB of data, I'm confused as to why the file size is only 12.4 MB. Could it be that the downloaded files just allow access to more data? After examining the contents, it appears they're mostly browser-related files. I'm really hoping they didn't manage to download any of my Gmail info.

You're spot on! Takeout allows users to pick and choose which data to include in their download. If they didn’t select your photos or emails, then those wouldn't be part of the download. It's strange they didn't go for everything, but maybe they only wanted specific info.
Exactly! If everything was selected, your file would be much larger. It looks like the person who accessed your account wasn't interested in everything you have stored. It’s good they didn’t take your emails or pictures, but keep an eye on your account just in case!
When you use Google Takeout, you're given the option to select exactly what data you want to download. It sounds like whoever accessed your account might have only chosen the browser data, which would explain the smaller file size. You should definitely change your passwords just in case to secure your account.
