Why is my GPU not reaching full performance after building my new PC?

I just built my first PC rig, and after running a benchmark on Basemark, I initially scored 2500 points. However, after installing some drivers and games, my score dropped to 800 points, and I'm experiencing low FPS in games. I even reinstalled Windows and ensured I installed the correct drivers, but my GPU is still underperforming. I used DDU to reinstall the drivers again, but no luck. I've confirmed that my HDMI is plugged into the GPU, it's in the first slot, and I've set my power mode to performance. Here's my setup:

- MOBO: AORUS B550M ELITE
- CPU: AMD 5600X
- GPU: ZOTAC 3060ti Twin Edge OC

I'm looking for help as a beginner builder and really need some guidance!

What version of the NVIDIA drivers are you using? Sometimes issues can arise from specific driver versions, so it might be worth checking and possibly rolling back to an older version if one of your updates caused the problem.

What games are you testing? If it's just one specific game that's underperforming, it could be unoptimized rather than an overall GPU issue. Also, double-check that you're not running programs like MSI Afterburner while installing GPU drivers, as there are known bugs that can set power limits.

Try running Furmark to benchmark your GPU. It will show what percentage load and frequency your GPU is hitting during the test, which could give you more insight.

Make sure your thermal paste is applied correctly. If it isn't, your CPU could be overheating, causing performance issues. Also, I’d recommend checking your GPU for idle clocks while gaming; if it's not ramping up properly, that could be a driver issue.

There are a few factors that could be influencing your GPU performance. First, check if your CPU might be bottlenecking, but since your 5600X is generally well-matched with the 3060 ti, it shouldn't be a major issue. Also, watch your GPU and CPU temperatures; high temps can throttle performance. Lastly, consider testing with another GPU if you have access to one, just to rule out hardware issues.
