I recently built a new desktop PC, but I'm experiencing a pretty unstable Ethernet connection. My old laptop was connected to the same setup without any issues. I've kept everything the same with the wiring; the only difference now is that the Ethernet cable goes into the desktop instead of the laptop. I've attempted several fixes, like uninstalling and reinstalling the network drivers, but nothing has improved. I'm running Windows 11 with the latest updates, and my motherboard is an Asus Z790 Max Gaming WiFi7. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Just to clarify, what operating system are you using on your desktop? You mentioned Windows 11, but it's useful to confirm the exact build number as well. Sometimes updates can cause instability with drivers.
Have you tried booting from a live Linux USB, like Ubuntu? It can help determine if the issue is driver-related. Just select 'Try Ubuntu' during boot and see if the Ethernet works there. It's a quick way to diagnose without changing your Windows setup.
How would I go about doing that?

I’m on Windows 11, build number 26200.6901, fully updated as mentioned.
