Why is my newly built PC underperforming on benchmarks?

I just built my new PC yesterday, and I'm seeing some concerning results. Here are my specs: Ryzen 7 9800x3d, RTX 5070 Ti, Aorus x870 E, 36 GB of Vengeance RAM, and a 2TB SSD. After running the free demo of 3DMark, it seems I'm in the bottom 45% of scores for my hardware. I've also noticed a lot of games, including indie ones, aren't running smoothly – I experience consistent stuttering every few seconds. I've checked, and all my drivers are up to date. Is there anything I should change or troubleshoot?

If your XMP/EXPO is enabled and your drivers are current, I recommend using HWInfo to check temps and clock speeds while testing. This will help you see if something is overheating or not performing as it should.

As for acceptable scores, benchmarks aren't like GPAs. Being around the 45th percentile means you're average, which isn't alarming unless your games still stutter. If they're lagging, something else is likely causing that issue.

Being in the bottom 45% might not be as bad as it sounds. It just means you're slightly under the median score for similar setups. The stuttering is a bigger issue, though. Make sure you're running a clean OS install without any bloatware. It's also wise to disable background applications like Steam and Discord while gaming.

Just to clarify, are you aware of your PSU's wattage? Sometimes, a low-quality or underpowered power supply can lead to performance issues.

First off, double-check that your monitor is plugged into the GPU and not the motherboard. But also, have you enabled EXPO/XMP for your RAM? That can make a big difference with AMD CPUs!
