Hey everyone, I'm having a frustrating issue with my newly bought secondhand Acer Orion PC. I was setting it up without headphones but when I plugged them in to try out a game, the volume was disappointingly quiet despite everything being set to 100%. I've made sure that my audio drivers are up to date, restarted the Windows audio service, and turned off any audio enhancements, but nothing has changed. It's definitely not a problem with my headphones or monitor since both are at maximum volume. I really don't understand how Windows can allow audio to be this low. If anyone has any ideas on what could be causing this or how to fix it, I'd be super grateful! Even just knowing whether it's fixable would help me move on. Thanks for taking the time to read this!

If the problem persists even with different headphones, you might need to look into getting an external USB sound card or an amp. Some headphones require more power than what the built-in sound card can provide. It could really improve your audio experience!
It sounds like you might have a hardware issue rather than a software one. Have you tried using different headphones? Sometimes the headphones themselves can have low impedance and need more power. You might also want to check if the audio ports are clean and properly connected. Switching to another display cable or using a different aux might help too!
Thanks for the tips! I’ll definitely try a different pair of headphones and check the connections.
You could try using DeskFX Audio Enhancer software; it helped me out with a similar issue on my laptop. It allows you to boost the audio quite a bit.
Awesome! Does it really let you boost the audio effectively? I’ll check it out and let you know how it goes!
That’s a good idea! If I go that route, do you have any recommendations for an affordable sound card?
