Why is my WiFi connection getting worse after switching to eero?

Hey everyone! I could use some advice. I know that my basement setup isn't ideal for a good WiFi connection since the router is upstairs. It used to be manageable, but lately, my connection has seriously declined. My family uses Frontier, and while it wasn't stellar before, I had a small extender that worked pretty well. However, things changed when my mom bought an eero mesh router, and now my connection is worse than ever. What's more frustrating is that I can't seem to reset my old extender back to the network, which was my backup plan. I'm thinking about getting a TP-Link mesh system since I had good luck with that before, but I'm on a tight budget. I'd really appreciate your thoughts or suggestions on what to do next!

Have you tried looking up the manual for the extender? You might be able to reset it and get it working again. It's worth a shot!

We've looked for it, but my mom can't remember where she put it.

Just a couple of questions for you: Are you able to connect to the eero at all? Also, how many satellite units do you have? Sometimes other routers or extenders can mess up the mesh setup, so it’s best if only the modem and the eero are connected. That could definitely help you get a better connection!

The eero is connected to the modem, taking over the network. I can't connect to anything else without going through the eero. Not sure what my mom thought it would solve; it hasn’t improved anything for me in the basement!
