I have a Dell G15 5155 with a Ryzen processor, and it's not recognizing my HDD. The BIOS can't detect it, which makes me think that either the SSD is dead or the motherboard has damaged the port. It's been treated well, only used occasionally, and hasn't seen any gaming. Recently, I've started using it for 3D printer tasks. To make matters worse, it has a 2230 SSD, which makes finding a replacement locally pretty difficult. Any suggestions?

M.2 slots usually don't fail. It's more likely that your SSD is the issue. According to the service manual, your G15 has two M.2 slots for SSDs (2230/2280). You might be able to fit a standard 2280 drive if you get creative with the mounting.
I looked into it, and while the mounts can be adjusted for a 2280 SSD, the actual bracket that secures the SSD may not be moveable. I'm planning to replace mine soon; one of my other laptops has a SATA M.2, so I might use that.
